Cashmere Canvas

I bought this lovely cashmere hooded sweater in a nice neutral off white. It will go with everything! Yes, it does go with everything and is wonderfully warm in the cool air conditioning but it is also an ever so boring neutral off white.

My lovely but boring sweater was an empty cashmere canvas in which to add my own crochet design work.  Mixing and matching a couple of crochet edging designs I had along with a coordinating off white #20 sized lace thread, beige satin ribbon, and a sweet variegated yarn of pinks, greens, and golds this addition adds a bit of me to a simple manufactured sweater.

The thin variegated yarn is in the same color spectrum as many of my other clothes and am happy that my hand crocheted addition of lace edging still goes with just about everything I already own

Poor Planning…

Started a beautiful lace summer scarf in a sweet Sakura Pink. But didn’t consider how much lace thread needed to complete the project.

Loved the design, Loved the pattern…until I started to run out of lace color #123.

Stopped in at the nearest Yuzawaya only to discover they were sold out :(

Finally, after 2 months, I found one lonely skein waiting for me at Yuzawaya’s Ginza location!!

So now I’m off and crocheting the piece to be ready for the cool summer air conditioning on the trains.

Lesson learned! Next time I’ll be purchasing a bit more materials than I expect to use, just in case.

to the final crochet and embroidery design created on cotton:

Each sakura is individually hand crocheted and then embroidered detail is added to the cotton. Along with Summer, Fall and a unique Winter scroll I am looking forward to a gallery showing in Tokyo this fall. Love how the hand embroidered accents really make this design pop!
